The following courses are being offered in our Recorded Webinar Series:

Drive Wheel Configuration: Do we KNOW what we KNOW? (1hr) -- CPTA Approval # 21-544; Exp Date: 11/1/2022: This course will examine the long-held beliefs with regard to the application of power mobility drive wheel configuration, discuss the principles behind those beliefs, and examine the research that supports or disputes them. It will also examine the impact design changes and technology advances have in mitigating the “known” disadvantages of each drive wheel configuration to provide participants with a fresh look at the advantages of each.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of the course the participant will be able to:

  1. Describe 3 considerations for proportional alternative drive control selection and set up
  2. Describe 3 considerations for digital/switched alternative drive control selection and set up
  3. Describe at least one factor on how tilt and recline can affect access to each drive control option

Clinical Considerations for Alternative Drive Controls (1hr) -- CPTA Approval # 21-545; Exp Date: 11/1/2022: This workshop will review many of the considerations that must be examined when recommending alternative controls. Case specific examples will be utilized to elucidate the often-delicate interplay between alternative control access and complex seating system needs.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of the course the participant will be able to:

  1. List a minimum of 2 advantages of each drive wheel configuration.
  2. Identify at least 1 design change implemented to mitigate a disadvantage of each drive wheel configuration.
  3. Justify the medical need for suspension for an individual with a neurological condition.

These are approved by California Physical Therapy Association, American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), and IACET.
